Hands-On Learning

From your first day to graduation day, hands-on learning is the essential focus of your time at Frostburg State.

Every program offers you the opportunity to apply your knowledge to real-world situations through internships, field experiences, service learning, special problems courses, applied research, competitions, simulations, or use of actual case studies. Students have the opportunity to conduct valuable, relevant scientific research alongside faculty mentors and present their results at national conferences. Participate in a co-op to gain real-world experience in your academic or career area. Internships hosted by groups like the U.S. Senate, the National Institutes of Health, the American Cancer Society, and IBM help you jump-start your career.

On average, about 75% of Frostburg State students participate in hands-on, experiential learning. No matter what your interest is, you will create meaningful experiences and take advantage of dynamic opportunities in many academic areas.

Being a part of University Programming Council was very rewarding. I loved learning how to put on big concert productions. We did amazing shows together like Maroon 5 and Sara Bareilles. Those nights are some of my most treasured memories from college.
